What is a migraine headache?
Migraine headaches are a common and debilitating condition that affects millions of people worldwide. These severe headaches are characterized by intense pain on one or both sides of the head, often accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound.
The exact cause of migraines is not fully understood, but it is believed to be related to changes in the levels of certain chemicals in the brain. Some people may have a genetic predisposition to migraines, while others may develop them as a result of triggers such as stress, certain foods, or changes in hormones.
What are the symptoms?
Symptoms of migraines can vary from person to person, but they typically include a severe headache that is usually on one side of the head. The pain is usually described as a throbbing or pulsing sensation and can be accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Some people also experience an “aura” before the headache, which can include visual disturbances such as flashing lights or blind spots.
Migraine treatment options
There are several different treatment options for migraines, including medications to relieve pain and prevent future migraines. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen can be used to relieve mild to moderate migraines. Prescription medications, such as triptans, can be used to relieve more severe migraines. These medications work by narrowing blood vessels in the brain, which can help to reduce the pain and other symptoms of migraines.
Preventative treatments may also be prescribed to help reduce the frequency and severity of migraines. These can include medications such as beta-blockers, anti-seizure medications, and antidepressants. Additionally, non-pharmacologic treatments, such as lifestyle changes, such as stress management, avoiding triggers, and regular exercise, may also help prevent migraines.
Migraine headaches can be a debilitating condition, but with the right treatment and management, people who suffer from migraines can lead full and productive lives. If you suffer from migraines, it is important to work with your healthcare provider to find the best treatment plan for you.
Experiment with Alternative Treatments
In addition to the strategies I already mentioned, I also experimented with alternative treatments such as acupuncture and craniosacral therapy to help ease the symptoms of my migraines. Acupuncture helps boost circulation, allowing more oxygen and nutrients to get to your muscles and relieving tension. Craniosacral therapy works by manipulating the bones in your head and spine to reduce compression which can lead to headaches. Both of these alternative therapies proved helpful for me in reducing migraine episodes.
CEFALY drug-free migraine treatment
Cefaly is a device that is used as a non-invasive treatment option for migraines. It is a small, battery-operated device that is worn on the forehead and is designed to prevent migraines before they occur. The device is worn for 20 minutes per day and works by applying a small electrical current to the forehead, which is thought to stimulate certain nerves and reduce the frequency and severity of migraines.
Cefaly is a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) device, which means it uses electrical current to stimulate the nerves and muscles. It’s been approved by FDA and Health Canada for the preventative treatment of migraine headaches in adults. It’s been shown to be effective in reducing the number of migraine attacks, as well as the intensity and duration of migraines when they do occur.
It’s considered a safe alternative for people who do not want to take medication or who have not found relief with medication. It is important to note that Cefaly is not a cure for migraines and should be used in conjunction with other treatment options such as medications, lifestyle changes, and alternative therapies. Before using Cefaly, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if it is the right treatment option for you.

Seeing a headache specialist or neurologist may also be beneficial for those suffering from migraines. These medical professionals can help figure out what’s causing your migraines and provide treatment solutions tailored to your individual needs. Some of the treatments they may recommend include medications, lifestyle changes, and even botox injections. A headache specialist can also suggest preventative strategies to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine episodes.
Medzion Online Doctor & Pharmacy
Medzino is an online medical service provider and pharmacy that allows customers to consult with a doctor and receive medication without having to leave their homes. It’s an e-health platform that connects patients with licensed physicians, who can provide online consultations and issue prescriptions. They also offer an online pharmacy service that delivers the prescribed medication directly to the patients.
It’s primarily based in the UK & USA and its services include online consultations, prescriptions, and delivery of medication. Medzino’s doctors can diagnose and treat a range of conditions, including migraines, which can be treated with prescription medication. They also offer a range of other treatments such as sexual health and contraception, mental health, and skin-related conditions.
It’s an option for people who may have difficulty getting to see a doctor in person, or for those who prefer the convenience of receiving medical care and treatment from the comfort of their own homes. However, it’s important to note that not all medical conditions can be treated remotely and some conditions may require in-person examination and follow-up. It’s always recommended to consult with a healthcare provider in person if you have any serious or persistent symptoms.
