Serrapeptase and science- what we know
Serrapeptase has been around for the last 30 years and is used extensively by health practitioners throughout Europe and Asia, it is classified as a dietary supplement in the United states.
Serrapeptase is used where pain is present in some conditions that include Headache Tension,Migraine,Fibromylgia, Oesteoporosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Back pain, Osteoarthritis and back pain.
I think in general we are a bit fed up with over the counter medicines when we read of the potential side effects of NSAIDs if used over a long period of time. So what is there to learn about Serrapeptase and science?
The nutraceutical industry has been searching for years to find a safe natural alternative to NSAIDs for inflammation and pain relief. During the 1970’s a massive discovery was made the enzyme Serra peptidase was found in the intestine of the silkworm and now it is used throughout the world as a safe natural alternative to pain killers like Ibuprofen, aspirin, paracetamol and other more potent NSAIDs.
Benefits of taking Serrapeptase
One of the benefits of taking Serrapeptase is that the gastrointestinal side effects are minimal, without doubt it is attractive alternative to people suffering from swelling, chronic pain and inflammation.
It is used where there is inflammation with good success, conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, sore throat; it is used if a vein is swollen because of a blood clot formation (Thrombophlebitis) also helpful with an ear infection, sore throat, crohn’s disease.
Because Serapeptase has the ability to break up clots it is used to fight heart disease or atherosclerosis which is known as hardening of the arteries.
It has been used for fibrocystic breast disease (non cancerous lumpy breasts)or breast lump infection, some mothers have used it for breast engorgement (breast pain) following pregnancy.
Serrapeptase has been used in the treatment of leg ulcers, asthma, pus accumulation (emphysema) and the treatment of diabetes.
Serrapeptase the enzyme is also known by other names like, serrapeptidase, Serratia E-15, Serraslyin, The various isoforms of this enzyme are isolated from different Serratia strains.
Serrapeptase and your cardiovascular system:
The blood that flows through our veins is carried in small tubes being pumped around the body and containing oxygen, dead material is disposed within the cells and organs.
Blood circulation is a vital part of staying well, Blood clots can form over time because of excess fibrin accumulation which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. Even though it is the function of the liver,Serrapeptase can help to digest these clots.

In each of these studies participants were given Serrapeptase and in all cases pain levels decreased.

What are Serrapeptidase uses:
Serrapeptidase or Serrapeptase is known to be an enzyme taken from the intestine of the silkworm,In Europe they market it under the name Anaflazyme,in Asia it is sold under the brand name Danzen.
It has many uses in a clinical setting:
It is used to treat inflammation, especially where there is swelling.
It has been used in the treatment of Fibrocystic breast disease.
It has been used for treating sinusitis and skin problems.
It has been used to reduce cholesterol and remove plaque in the arterial system.
It has been used for pain relief, for example arthritis.polymyalgia.
It has been used to relieve bronchitis, because it expels and loosens mucus.
It has been used to treat varicose veins.

Serrapeptase can digest tissue
We know that Serrapeptase can digest dead tissue without harming good tissue,It can also digest cysts, arterial plaque, blood clots. Dr Hans Napier, the late German physician did use Serrapeptase in treating arterial plaque blockages in his patients,so we could describe the enzyme as Doctor best Serrapeptase because of it’s health benefits.
Serratiopeptidase an alternate anti-inflammatory drug
Serratiopeptidase is widely used in medicine; it has a long history in fighting different kinds of inflammatory disorders and inflammation. Serrapeptase or Serratiopeptidase is a protein (proteolytic) enzyme which is isolated from the non-pathogenic enterobacteria Serratia E15 that is found in silkworms.
It is prescribed as an anti inflammatory pain relief in surgery, otorhinolaryngology, gynecology, orthopedics, and dentistry. In recent years research has shown that Serrapeptase is most effective in treating atherosclerosis, similiar to many enzymes, Serrapeptase has affinity to substrate and reports suggest it to be useful managing inflammation and pain.
In 2015 Chappi, conducted post op research, the conclusion methylprednisolone had better pain relief but serratiopeptidase exerted anti swelling and better anti inflammatory effects foll.Furthermore, a synergistic combination of Serrapeptase and methylprednisolone proved more effective when expected post op sequale materialized. A 2014 study
A study in 2014 found that by using Serratiopeptidase and periodontal a solution for enhanced drug delivery was made.
Chitosan nano particles loaded with Serratiopeptidase were found after analysis for an effective anti inflammatory drug used in a variety of inflammatory disease models in 2015.This enzyme during the treatment of peri-implantitis along with other anti biotics was reported to be effective.
But scientifically speaking lot’s more need to be done, you can read some of the studies here;
